Out with the Old, In with the New!

Say goodbye to the old traditional style kitchen and hello to the modern times. The contemporary style design is on the rise. Ornate moldings, glazed cabinet doors, and earth-toned back splashes said their goodbyes in 2012. In 2013, and continuing into 2014, the sleek and simple style of the contemporary kitchen is taking over the trend.
Kitchen cabinet colors are on both sides of the spectrum. Colors like coffee or variations of white are becoming more popular. Neutral colors are still popular, but the simple look of dark and white are in more demand.
Islands that serve more than one purpose are becoming a more requested feature in today's kitchen. Food-prep areas, storage, and table replacements are a must have in 2013 and will continue in 2014.
What do you prefer? Granite or quartz? Most consumers, in 2013, chose the more reliable quartz over granite. Quartz surfaces, like Cambria, are engineered stone, which means they are non-porous. The low maintainence and the color options of quartz is grabbing the attention of today's consumers. If quartz is out of your budget, Wilsonart laminate has some new designs in their HD collection. Wilsonart has even developed an under mount sink for their tops.
Appliance manufacturers will tell you that white or arctic or ice is the new stainless, but stainless is still the king. It fits in with both contemporary and traditional decor, and it has widespread appeal.
Design trends are always changing. We look forward to what tomorrow will bring!
